A New World View
Most of you know that I am trying to move on with my life and do something different career- wise, but has anyone checked out GOOGLE EARTH ?? This is an amazing tool allowing the everyday webserfer to view the earth in a whole new dimension. I'm talking 3D! It seems that every time I want to move on from my career and live a more simple life, something amazing like this happens. All my years of hard work...all my coworkers and people in the GIS profession have made this awesome new tool available. You see, we are the data collectors, yet my salute goes to Google for sharing this view with the whole world.
Does anyone see how this is going to change the world?? No longer are we isolated and confined to the 2 dimensional paper map. Now we can see the naked world right on the internet. Moments like these are not presented to us everyday. It may seem mundane, but this is like going to the moon and being able to see it on TV in 1969. This, my friends and family is why I study geography. I love this great planet. The only way we will preserve this wonderful Earth is if we revel in it's beauty. Can you tell she's excited?
Just a touch. Hey Annie, I put this on my machine at work...it was kinda cool to search to my house. (I get lost sometimes) Hey..make sure you tell Lance about this! :-)
I definately informed Lance, but I think he already knew about it. I'm glad you like it! I keep flying between Sacramento and Fiji. I'm so excited for our trip in November!
